About Us

Final song of an inclusive performance at Katugoda

What makes ECSAT special?

“We practice inclusion!”We are a disability-focused organisation which takes inclusion seriously – which means that our work involves disabled and non-disabled people together. We are making disability a visible part of everyday life in communities and breaking down the barriers of stigma and misunderstanding that so often exclude disabled people from leading the lives they want.

What are we good at?

“We listen, learn and take action”“We deliver”.ECSAT is good at listening and learning with children and adults with disabilities, and their families, to find solutions to everyday problems and some of the bigger barriers in society that prevent disabled people from being included as active members of society. When we have identified a solution, we take action to make it happen.ECSAT is especially good at developing and delivering projects and ensuring our funders get value for money and full feedback on the impact of their funding.

What difference do we make?

“Isolation”“Injustice”There is such limited support for families of children with disabilities that some parents consider putting their child into an institution. Many more children with disabilities would not enrol in school or drop out of school. Children with disabilities and their non-disabled peers would not have had the opportunity to form friendships and play together. The child with a disability would be more isolated and the non-disabled child would be more ignorant.Employment opportunities for people with disabilities would be fewer and more segregated.
