History

April 2005 - ECSAT established.

Children and ECSAT

Waiting for their turn in a kids performance with moustaches!- December 2005 - First 'Kids Day' performance took place for children to develop and showcase their talents.

- February 2007 - Sensory Day for children with disabilities who are normally housebound in order to mix with their peers.

- June 2007 - Exhibition of work by children and young people with disabilities in Galle Town Hall to raise awareness of their abilities.

- October 2007 - Completion of UNICEF Inclusion Programme for Children with Disabilities which helped 81 families in their homes, involved 74 parents in support groups, and included 48 children in Kids Clubs with their non-disabled peers.


Communities and ECSAT

- October 2006 - ECSAT Centre made accessible to people with physical disabilities, supported by USAID and Motivation, and opened by the Mayor of Galle.

- November 2007 - Formal beginning of partnership with WINGS Austria to continue support for tsunami resettlement area of Salzburg Village and their non-affected neighbours living in poverty.

- November 2007 - Completion of UNICEF Mother and Child Support Project having supported 65 mothers to better deal with issues such as domestic violence as a group, and 127 children to be more creative and make lasting friendships.

Social Enterprise and ECSAT (ECSART)
- June 2006 - Handicrafts retail partnership with Odel started and first order of beanbags delivered.

- January 2008 - Start of new partnership with Americares, to build the sustainability of the Handicrafts programme within a year.

Tsunami and ECSAT
- July 2005 – October 2007 - Tsunami Recovery work began at Galle Community Support Centre, funded by Malteser International achieving transition for 370 people from post tsunami trauma and loss to security and the ability to look to the future again.
