ECSAT to team up with Galle Literary Festival on 21st January

Come down to the Galle Fort on Saturday 21st January from 9.30am to 6pm and take part in an amazing ECSAT event - the ECSAT Galle Fort Charity Bazaar! Meet famous actress Anarkali, or Sybil Wettasinghe as she gives a reading from one of her world famous books. Try your hand at sign language in our special classes, or for a small donation try using a wheelchair to get around the Fort! Local handicrafts will be on sale with demonstrations by the producers, or if you prefer there are a number of cookery demonstrations to learn from. Come and join the fun!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas has arrived and everyone at ECSAT would like to wish all of our friends and supporters a wonderful festive season. Tomorrow will be the anniversary of the tsunami, so please spare a thought for all the people who left us on that day in 2004.

Christmas orders are now being taken from our supporters in the UK, Australia, Sri Lanka and Europe, and we also now have an Ebay webshop online. If you want a gift or greeting this Christmas that makes a difference to the producers then please do buy from us!

Bonfire Night Party raises money for ECSAT

Friends of ECSAT (FoE) UK are now working to raise both funds and awareness of ECSAT. Julia Frankl (FoE Trustee) held a Bonfire Night party on 5th of November and asked partygoers to make a small donation to ECSAT. Huge thanks to everyone who went and raised a fantastic £70!

Preparations for the Galle Childrens Festival are in full swing

ECSAT is proud to be involved in the Galle Childrens Festival presenting activities for disabled and non-disabled children and even running a small wheelchair treasure hunt around the Galle Fort to raise awareness of accessibility issues. Check out the programme online and come and join us for a fun event on the 22nd and 23rd of October!

ECSAT Founder Catherine Liyanage is awarded an MBE

In this years Queens Birthday Honours List Catherine Liyanage (nee Mole) founder of ECSAT, has been named for her services to disabled and disadvantaged children in Sri Lanka. We are all very proud that the work that we do has been recognised in this way.

British High Commissioners visit

On 29th of November the British High Commissioner, Dr. Peter Hayes and his wife visited ECSAT. This was a great day for ECSAT and a good chance to show a diplomat the work we are doing on the ground.
