ECSAT Training

Having built up a strong team and body of knowedge on working to mainstream disability into local communities and into development, ECSAT has now begun to offer training to other organisations either for their staff, their volunteers or their beneficiaries.

Since 2006 ECSATs Director has contributed to the Disability Studies Unit at The University of Kelaniya and is now a visiting lecturer. Since 2007, she has also worked with Caritas (Sri Lanka and Italy) and the Don Gnocchi Foundation to deliver attitude change training to staff of the national animation programme in order to mainstream disability.

ECSATs first formal training was held in August 2008 after a request from UNDP and the Southern Province Social Services. This training focused on building the knowledge of parents to improve the life skills of their children with intellectual disability. Our second major training took place in October 2008 in Chilaw and focused on the inclusion of disabled people in their community.

ECSAT now has a number of trainings that it can deliver immediately, and a further number currently in development. We pride ourselves on being able to tailor our trainings to the needs of the organisation or community rather than only offering generic topics.
