Strong Families - the future for children in need! 

Feeling the economic recession bite? Imagine how it would feel if your grocery bill doubled. Poor families in Sri Lanka are on the brink of crisis, their basic daily necessities of rice, coconuts, and milk have doubled in price this year, and inflation is a staggering 28%.

Families in Galle, Sri Lanka, already struggle to provide their children with the basic rights we take for granted – school, healthcare and equipment for disabled children. Their hand-to-mouth economy cannot withstand a further blow.

ECSAT works every day with families at risk of falling further into poverty and despair.

ECSAT believes in strong families to ensure that all children have the chance to succeed regardless of income or disability. Family care, hope and encouragement make the difference between a life of inequality and poverty, and a future actively involved in the community and in employment. Now more than ever, families need our help – and we at ECSAT need your help.

ECSAT is a small Sri Lankan charity which helps people help themselves. We support small handicraft groups to boost local self employment, the sales providing vital income for families and disabled people. We help families of disabled children come together to overcome challenges they face in caring for their children. We provide classes for disabled children where they have been excluded from school and help parents campaign for them to enter mainstream local schools. We run Kids Clubs to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for all children and provide nutritional supplements to minimise hunger and help children develop physically.

Our appeal is for a small contribution from you which will go directly to our work in Galle.

We will:

- Ensure children are fed and attend school
- Help poor parents earn vital family income through our handicraft production groups
- Ensure disabled people can be cared for and supported in their own family

Our appeal target is only £2000 a month, to enable our projects to help families grow stronger.
